One-off evidence sessions

Summary justice reforms - At its meeting on 26 January 2010, the Committee took evidence from the Solicitor General for Scotland (accompanied by a Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service official) and the Law Society of Scotland on the implementation of summary justice reforms. Budget Process 2011-12

The Justice Committee concentrated its scrutiny on (1) funding for community sentences and (2) police funding and the potential for greater joint working and shared use of resources by the police and other services.  Mr Eddie Frizzell was appointed as an adviser. Oral evidence was heard on 23 November (a panel considering police spend followed by a panel considering funding for community penalties) and 30 November (a panel considering joint working and shared use of resources followed by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice). Budget Process 2010-11

The Committee agreed that this year its scrutiny of the Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2010-11 would concentrate on funding for community penalties; police budgets and funding; and front-line workers in the prisons, police and fire services.
