29 June 2010 :   The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government, British Horse Society Scotland, Scottish SPCA, National Equine Welfare Council, International League for the Protection of Horses, Scottish Coal and the National Union of Minerworkers seeking responses to points raised in the petition and during the discussion. <Link to Official Report 26 June 2010  

5 October 2010 :   The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders on the grounds that although the Coal and Other Mines (Horses) Order 1956 which sets out the conditions which need to be met for ponies and horses used in mines is reserved to the UK Government, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has confirmed that the UK Government will take steps to revoke that Order should equine animals be used underground in the future.Link to Official Report 26 January 2010"
