S3W-18166 Jackie Baillie: To ask the Scottish Executive what its reasons were for refusing to answer 21 freedom of information requests and subsequent reviews relating to the outbreak of Clostridium difficile at the Vale of Leven Hospital, given that when the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing has committed to being open and transparent in sharing information with the families affected by the outbreak.

S3W-18237 Jamie McGrigor: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-16416 by Richard Lochhead on 1 October 2008, whether it has had discussions with NFU Scotland, or other relevant organisations, concerning the review of EU Directive 91/414/EEC and the implications that it has for Scotland’s agriculture and horticulture industries.

S3W-18238 Jamie McGrigor: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-16419 by Richard Lochhead on 1 October 2008, what further consideration it has given to the recent amendments to EU Directive 91/414/EEC and their potential effects on food supply and food security issues in Scotland.

S3W-18239 Jamie McGrigor: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-16417 by Richard Lochhead on 1 October 2008, what action it will take in response to recent amendments to EU Directive 91/414/EEC to aid farmers and growers who are concerned about greater costs, more red tape, and a reduction in plant protection products.

S3W-18240 Jamie McGrigor: To ask the Scottish Executive what action it will take in response to the recent amendments to EU Directive 91/414/EEC to aid the horticulture industry, which has expressed fears that it will be unable to use products to control downy and powdery mildew, leaf spot and apple scab.

S3W-18241 Robert Brown: To ask the Scottish Executive how many pupils have been suspended for alcohol-related issues in each local authority in each of the last five years.

S3W-18242 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive how many of the 18 known deaths due to or associated with Clostridium difficile at the Vale of Leven Hospital between December 2007 and May 2008 were (a) type 027, (b) other types of Clostridium difficile and (c) not identified by type.

S3W-18243 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive how many of the 18 known deaths due to, or associated with, Clostridium difficile at the Vale of Leven Hospital between December 2007 and May 2008 were identified by type (a) before the patient’s death, (b) within two weeks of the patient’s death, (c) within one month of the patient’s death and (d) more than one month after the patient’s death.

S3W-18244 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3M-15208 by Nicola Sturgeon on 22 August 2008 indicating that a number of hospital cleaning and catering services contracts is subject to review, whether this position contradicts the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing’s letter to NHS boards on 20 October 2008 advising them that there will be no further privatisation of hospital cleaning and catering services anywhere in Scotland.

S3W-18245 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will list all NHS hospitals or units where external cleaning and catering contracts are (a) in operation, (b) subject to best value reviews or test marketing, (c) in operation under extended PFI/PPP contracts or (d) planned to operate in hospitals or under construction.

S3W-18246 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it considers it appropriate for NHS boards to cut improvement and support budgets as part of efficiency savings.

S3W-18247 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is ensuring that, in reducing the use of agency or bank staff, NHS boards are meeting agreed staffing levels in all units and agreeing any reductions in bank and agency staff with staff partnerships.

S3W-18248 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it considers that delaying filling vacancies is an appropriate way of achieving efficiency savings.

S3W-18257 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive how many vacancies there are for hospital pharmacists and how many of these posts have been vacant for more than (a) three and (b) six months, also broken down by NHS board.

S3W-18258 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is ensuring that pay protection is being extended beyond the originally planned three-year period, pending the conclusion of appeals under Agenda for Change.

S3W-18259 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-17748 by Nicola Sturgeon on 19 November 2008, whether the information entered on the personal child health record is also recorded in the notes held by the general practitioner for that child, in detail or summary.

S3W-18260 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive what steps it is taking to ensure that clinically important information obtained by members of the primary care team or the primary care network is recorded on a single accessible record.

S3W-18261 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive what steps it has taken, or is taking, to ensure that all GP software systems to be used in Scotland are compatible with (a) all other clinical systems and (b) data collection systems being used by ISD Scotland.

S3W-18262 Dr Richard Simpson: To ask the Scottish Executive what arrangements are in place for ensuring that medical information on prisoners is transferred to their GPs on release, including (a) primary care information, (b) screening information and test results, (c) information on programmes addressing issues such as drugs and alcohol use or anger management and other behavioural programmes and (d) information about the nature of their offences where that may relate to future health issues, such as alcohol, drugs, domestic violence, anger control or other forms of abuse.

S3W-18264 Hugh O’Donnell: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S3W-17508 by Jim Mather on 14 November 2008, whether the installation of more efficient turbines of the original size at the downsized hydro generating stations would also result in an increase in renewable output.

S3W-18265 Hugh O’Donnell: To ask the Scottish Executive what the benefit to the Scottish economy will be from having an excess of subsidised wind farm electricity generating capacity if this electricity is exported and the aerogenerators have been manufactured abroad.

S3W-18266 Hugh O’Donnell: To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to increase pumped storage hydro capacity to enable excess electricity to be stored for later use when output exceeds demand.
