Today’s business

As previously announced, the first meeting of the Parliament in Session Three will take place today for the swearing in of members. If the Parliament agrees, the meeting will then be adjourned until Monday 14 May at 3.00 pm for the election of the new Presiding Officer and the Deputy Presiding Officers.

Parliamentary Questions and Motions

Members can lodge parliamentary questions and motions after they have taken the oath or made the solemn affirmation. These should be lodged with the clerks of the Chamber Desk, which is located in Room T1.01 at the top of the stairs from the Garden Lobby to the Chamber.

Royal Assent

The Airdrie-Bathgate Railway and Linked Improvements Act 2007 (asp 19) received Royal Assent on 8 May 2007.

The Rights of Relatives to Damages (Mesothelioma) (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 18) received Royal Assent on 26 April 2007.

The Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 15), the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link Act 2007 (asp 16) and the Custodial Sentences and Weapons (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 17) received Royal Assent on 19 April 2007.

The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 14) received Royal Assent on 18 April 2007.

The Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Trading (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 13) received Royal Assent on 13 April 2007.

The Prostitution (Public Places) (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 11) and the Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Act 2007 (asp 12) received Royal Assent on 5 April 2007.
