The following Petitions were lodged with the Parliament on 15 February 2005

PE818 Petition by William Burns on behalf of Scotland Against Crooked Lawyers calling on the Scottish Parliament to disband or re-evaluate the composition of the Justice Committees; to review the recommendations of the Justice 1 Committee’s Inquiry into the Regulation of the Legal Profession and to conduct a further inquiry based on the original remit agreed in 2002, and to establish a tribunal of non-lawyers to which petitioners can appeal against decisions where they can demonstrate a conflict of interest, bias, deficiency or a failure to address petitioners requests, in relation to those decisions.

PE819 Petition by Mr Paul Waterson on behalf of the Scottish Licensed Trade Association calling for the Scottish Parliament to consider and debate the implications of the proposed ban on smoking in public places on the hospitality industry and to consider the alternative progressive route to smoke free provision in hospitality venues as suggested by the petitioners.

The following Petition was lodged with the Parliament on 18 February 2005

PE820 Petition by Graham Clark calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to ensure that adequate funding is provided for therapeutic work initiatives to assist people with psychotic psychiatric disability.
