1. Future Business Programme

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament a future business programme for weeks beginning 1 and 8 December 2003. (for text of motion see Section F of the Business Bulletin for 26 November 2003)

2. Procedural Motions

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the following instrument be approved:

The draft Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 Amendment (Scotland) Order 2003.

The Bureau also agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Justice 2 Committee be designated as lead committee in consideration of the following instrument-

Act of Sederunt (Fees of Sheriff Officers) 2003, (SSI 2002/538).

3. Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Bill - Stage 2 Referral and Timetable

The Bureau agreed to refer the Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Bill back to the Justice 2 Committee for consideration at Stage 2 and to recommend to the Parliament a completion date of 12 December 2003.

 

4. Fire Sprinklers in Residential Premises (Scotland) Bill - Stage 1 Referral

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Fire Sprinklers in Residential Premises (Scotland) Bill be referred to the Communities Committee as lead committee for consideration at Stage 1. The Bureau also referred the bill to the Subordinate Legislation Committee for consideration of the delegated powers provisions.

5. Local Governance (Scotland) Bill - Stage 1 Referral

The Bureau agreed to refer the Local Governance (Scotland) Bill to the Local Government and Transport Committee for consideration at Stage 1. The Bureau also referred the bill to the Subordinate Legislation Committee for consideration of the delegated powers provisions.

6. Education Committee - Appointment of Adviser

The Bureau agreed to approve a request from the Education Committee to appoint an adviser to assist the Committee in its scrutiny of the Scottish Executive's budget proposals.

7. Enterprise and Culture Committee - Request to Meet in Campbeltown

The Bureau agreed to approve a request from the Enterprise and Culture Committee to hold an external meeting, site visits and a public participation event in Campbeltown, Kintyre, on 19 and 20 January 2004, as part of its inquiry into renewable energy in Scotland.

8. Enterprise and Culture Committee - Request to Conduct a Case-Study

Visit to Denmark

The Bureau considered agreed to approve a request from the Enterprise and Culture Committee to hold a case study visit to Denmark in February 2004 as part of its inquiry into renewable energy in Scotland.

9. Date of Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next meeting would be at 2.30 pm on 2 December 2003.
