Business Bulletin No. 74/2003

Wednesday 21st May 2003

Question Time and First Minister's Question Time

If the Business Motion S2M-44 is agreed to this morning, the first Question Time and First Minister’s Question Time of this session of the Parliament will be at 2.30 pm and 3.10 pm on Thursday 29 May 2003. Members will wish to note the deadlines by which questions should be lodged if the Business Motion is agreed to.

Questions for Question Time should be lodged with the Chamber Desk by 2.00 pm today. Questions will be selected randomly this afternoon and the selected questions will appear in Section D of the Business Bulletin tomorrow.

As Members will be aware, the office of the Clerk will not be open on Friday 23 May and Monday 26 May. The Parliamentary Bureau has therefore approved arrangements for the lodging of questions for First Minister’s Question Time if it is held on 29 May. Questions can be lodged now and until 4.00 pm tomorrow, Thursday 22 May. Members whose questions are selected by the Presiding Officer will be informed directly by the Chamber Desk on Tuesday 27 May and these questions will appear in Section D of the Business Bulletin on Wednesday 28 May.

Election of Members of the Parliamentary Corporation

Further to the announcement in yesterday's Business Bulletin, Members are reminded that nominations for this afternoon's elections for membership of the SPCB need to be lodged by 2.00pm at the latest. Nomination forms will be available from the Chamber Desk on the ground floor of PHQ from 9.30am. It would be helpful if nominations can be returned as early as possible.

A guidance note on the procedure to be followed this afternoon has been circulated to Parliamentary Bureau members and independent members. If members have any queries about the procedure to be followed this afternoon, then they are asked to contact the Parliamentary Business Team on extension 85180.

Ministerial Changes

The Presiding Officer has been informed by the First Minister that Mike Watson, Des McNulty and Dr Elaine Murray have demitted office as Scottish Ministers or Junior Scottish Ministers.
