The following Petitions were lodged with the Parliament on 7 October 2002-

PE556 Petition by Mr Ted Clemit, calling for the Scottish Parliament to take the necessary steps to (a) encourage all relevant agencies to work together to extend rail commuter services on the east coast mainline and (b) seek a review of the opportunities to restore stations across Scotland to reduce the predicted increase in traffic congestion in major towns and cities.

PE557 Petition by Mr James B. McGarry, calling for the Scottish Parliament to encourage the Scottish Prison Service to continue to provide adequate social and recreational facilities for its staff, and to avoid the closure of existing well used and well run facilities such as the Prison Officers Social Club at Polmont.
